Unicell BF & Flotofilter

The DAF system will usually be installed downstream of the seawater intake screens and upstream of the Dual Media/ UF filtration plant.

  • For large flows, KWI offers the Unicell BF for installation in concrete basins, with our maximum flow being 3000 m3/hr per DAF cell

  • KWI also offers a combined DAF filtration system Flotofilter

  • Both the Unicell BF and Flotofilter can be installed in concrete basins

Air Flotation is one of the most successful processes for handling both algae and suspended solids and will contribute to the reduction of organic materials being carried forward to the RO membranes. Best Combination: Ceramic UF Membrane

Combining DAF with ceramic UF is the best KWI pre-treatment combination for seawater desalination that can effectively remove biological, organic and other particulate contaminants, which, if left untreated, can result in problems such as biofouling on RO membrane surface. A unique process combination of DAF and ceramic membranes can extend the RO membrane lifespan to 8 years or more. Effluent water SDI can reach below 2.
