This ((BIO-KWI)) Wastewater Water Treatment Plant in Puerto Lopez, Colombia, demonstrates excellent efficacy in cleaning up the Meta river
The ((BIO-KWI)) Wastewater Treatment Plant of Puerto López (WWTP) was one of the most highlighted government projects. The local community, the municipality, and the council pushed for this investment, as this is one of the greatest contributions of the departmental administration to sanitation, not only for the whole population but for the whole region of Altillanura.
This ((BIO-KWI)) plant, currently allows for the reduction of 95 % of the pollutant load generated by the municipality, with a treatment capacity of 234’000’000 liters per month of polluted sewage flow.
The plant, already in operation, was a joint effort, between private capital and the government municipality.
Experts say that this is by far one of the best WWTPs in the whole Orinoquia, which not only treats the municipal polluted wastewater but is also a source for research studies, from various different universities in the country, who will be able to visit, study and learn of KWI’s advanced engineering capabilities: dirty water turning into clarified water in only 3 minutes.
